     Birendra Subba was born on December 12, 1927 in Darjeeling. He is a poet, musician and painter with many talents.

      Apart from poetry, Virendra also wrote essays and plays. He has also written in the genre of narrative

      He fell to Agamsingh around 1946. Achcha Rai 'Rasik', Arjun Kumar had set up a 'Progressive Literary Council' in association with the Chhetris. He also published a quarterly magazine called Suskera. His poems have been published in 'Gorkha' and 'Bharati' magazines were published.

     Virendra Subba's poems are not simple. His poems have a musical feel and craft. His poems have vague personal expressions and complex Sanskrit words. He is a sensitive poet.

         A new trend is found in his poems. Feelings of despair and dissatisfaction are also found in some poems. His intellectual poems have not forgotten to capture ethnic sentiments. He has expressed his sentiments in poems like 'Bhanubhakta Prati', 'Triratna Prati', 'Siddhicharan Prati', 'Junakiri' and other famous Nepali poets.

      Progressive thinking is found in some of his poems. Opposing exploitation, they want to bring a new dawn in the society. They want to break down the wall of inequality in society and compare themselves to a river of fire.

         Indra Bahadur Rai has written about the poet Birendra - "Birendra is not very personal in poetry, he has reached the collective, this is his strength."

        Poet Virendra Subba has also written plays. His play 'Bhanubhakta' was staged in Darjeeling around 1940. In 1978, two of his short plays, Fiesta and Tasbir, were published by Sajha Prakashan, Kathmandu.

          Some of his critical articles have been written about Michael Madhusudan Dutt and Agam Singh Giri. He published the experimental novel 'Mool Sadaktir' around 1968. There is a poetic style in this novel.
